Refer to Chapter 1, pages 9-12: “Characteristics of a Technical Document” and “Measures of Excellence in Technical Documents.” (For those who don't have your book yet, here is a partial list of some of the items so you can still do the assignment: It addresses particular readers. It reflects the organization's goals and culture. Clarity, Accuracy, Comprehensiveness, Accessibility, Conciseness, Professional appearance.)
Work with a partner to find two websites that are examples of technical communication (examples: university web page, set of instructions for a phone or device, the government website for a city or other entity, job search site, retail website, etc.).
Write a memo (memo format is on page 377 or you can use a template) to the instructor arguing which of your two websites is stronger overall as a technical piece of writing, along with 5 or 6 bullet points explaining why using some of the concepts from the book to justify your argument. Be sure to include links to the two websites in your memo.
Post your memo here. Only one of you needs to post, but be sure both your names are on the memo. Groups of 3 or solo posts are acceptable if necessary, but try to work in pairs if you can. You can use the "PEOPLE" tab on the left side of your screen in Canvas to email a classmate. Maybe choose someone to work with who posted the same usual online work times as you in the Introducing Yourself forum (evenings, weekends, etc.).
One final request: let's use this as an ice-breaker activity! Please post 3 "fun facts" that each person in your group shared with the other members (unique places you've gone, famous people you've met or admired, interesting groups you belong to, talents or interests, etc.). You can post these separately from the memo and one person can post them all for the entire group. :)
"(we will talk about retail website like amazon and ebay)" we doing compare and contract .
