Scholarship (30 points)
In this activity, you will summarize the specific module. The summary should be fairly lengthy (approximately 300 words). This summary should include key terms, theories, and specific data to illustrate the main points. Since modules contain more than one chapter, you may choose to focus on a specific chapter, but you will still need to include ALL chapters.
Application (40 points)
The third part of this paper will focus on an application of the material. You will choose an analytical article from one of the listed sources below. An analytical article is not a news article that provides reporting – instead, an analytical article provides a more in-depth analysis of the event, issue, or concern, related to the module you have chosen.
- New York Times
- Atlantic
- Guardian
- Slate
- Vox
- Pew Research Center
- Brookings Institute
Include a discussion of how social science could provide knowledge and theories and further understanding to the issue and concern – including what more needs to be known. Also describe how social science could disseminate such information and educate our society.
Conclusion (20 points)
Discuss you have learned: include what you had suspected or known previously, what you had not known, what surprised you and what you learned. Describe how this new knowledge changes your perspective.
