HAT Assignment Paper

For your final project, you must select a policy at any level of sport that interests you. You will research the policy, identify its strengths and weaknesses, and propose changes to the existing policy based on the SLEEPE Principle of decision making. Your paper should be double-spaced and must contain a minimum of four references in APA format, properly cited both in the text and on the reference page.

The Topic I have chosen is the NFL's Concussion Policy.

Background on the Policy:

The NFL's concussion policy is designed to protect players from the long-term effects of head injuries. The policy includes a number of measures to ensure that players are properly evaluated and treated for concussions. The policy requires that all players be evaluated for a concussion if they show any signs or symptoms of a head injury. Players must also be evaluated if they are involved in a collision that could have caused a concussion. The policy also requires that players who are diagnosed with a concussion be removed from the game and not allowed to return until they have been cleared by a medical professional. The policy also includes a number of measures to ensure that players are properly educated about the risks of concussions and the importance of reporting any symptoms. The NFL has implemented a number of educational programs to help players understand the risks of concussions and the importance of reporting any symptoms. The strengths of the NFL's concussion policy are that it is comprehensive and includes a number of measures to ensure that players are properly evaluated and treated for concussions. The policy also includes a number of measures to ensure that players are properly educated about the risks of concussions and the importance of reporting any symptoms. The weaknesses of the NFL's concussion policy are that it is not always enforced. There have been instances where players have been allowed to return to the game after suffering a concussion, despite the policy requiring that they be removed from the game and not allowed to return until they have been cleared by a medical professional. Additionally, there have been instances where players have not reported symptoms of a concussion, despite the policy requiring that they do so. Overall, the NFL's concussion policy is comprehensive and includes a number of measures to ensure that players are properly evaluated and treated for concussions. However, there are still some weaknesses in the policy that need to be addressed in order to ensure that players are properly protected from the long-term effects of head injuries. I believe the NFL should implement stricter rules and penalties for players who are found to have suffered a concussion and staff whose job is to follow protocol and protect players. This could include mandatory time off from practice and games, as well as additional medical evaluations. The NFL should also consider implementing a system of fines and suspensions for players who are found to have violated the concussion policy. And implement fines and suspension to staff who fail to follow concussion protocol the right way.
