Weaver (2002) discussed the use of the Red Road to wellness as a metaphor for using both Western forms of healing or treatment along with Native American healing and treatment systems. When treating chronic conditions like substance use disorder (addiction) diabetes, depression, or asthma, learning to walk the Red Road (incorporating cultural healing methods into your care routine) may be helpful.
