Discussion: Your Electoral System
If you could design an electoral system, how would you develop it to include likely representation of all minority groups? Representation may mean office holders, but may also mean responsive to the needs of all groups. Of course, this is a heavy thought - it isn't a simple question, nor is it an easily answerable one. Take time to think of ways in which we could encourage representation in our own system as well as addressing this prompt on a global spectrum.
Admittedly, this is an interesting topic of discussion considering the increased attention to elections, representation, and equality currently existent in the U.S., so let's be respectful and utilize our sociological imagination. You may mention political parties, but please refrain from engaging in the 'politics of politics' for this discussion (one party versus another) - think of it a bit more broadly. How can we - as a society - engage in increased representation? What can we do moving forward?
