Project description

Frontal lobe dysfunction is also known as the frontal lobe syndrome. The cause of this syndrome could come from a disease or an injury to the head (Reddy et al, 2018). Neurobiological have been found in some individuals that commit violent and criminal conduct (Reddy et al, 2018). When a person has an injury to their frontal lobe, they might show increased levels of aggression (Reddy et al, 2018). Frontal lobe dysfunction can contribute to abnormal and criminal behavior because if the frontal lobe is prominent, it can cause problems with social cognition and change a person’s impulse control (Reddy et al, 2018).

Also, a person with brain abnormalities can show more incidents of criminal behavior and violence (Reddy et al, 2018). This occurs when certain areas of the brain is not functioning correctly (Reddy et al, 2018). When a person suffers from an injury to their head, they will lose the ability to have self-control (). Violence behavior is increased by 10-20% (Reddy et al, 2018). When a person with a frontal lobe injury they are not as quick to identify what they are doing is wrong (Reddy et al, 2018). A person with substance abuse and a frontal lobe dysfunction can also struggle with controlling their anger and their impulses behaviors which cause them low serotonin levels, they can display aggression (Reddy et al, 2018). Individuals with low serotonin could cause self-harm or even suicide (Reddy et al, 2018). A male is much higher to display criminal behavior while they are dealing with high testosterone levels as an adult (Reddy et al, 2018). As forensic psychology the implications of frontal lobe dysfunction should be willing to find out if their frontal lobe dysfunction causes the individual to commit crimes because of their injuries. A forensic psychologist should make sure there has been test (Reddy et al, 2018). On the brain, find out how the individual behavior was before the injury (Reddy et al, 2018).
