This means that instructors must be intentional about how they offer feedback as generalized feedback for the class or for the assignment might not benefit students in improving their writing. In addition, instructors must match their feedback style to each student’s feedback preferences. According to Gredler (2018), when instructors fail to align their feedback style with student preferences, learning is impeded because students have a hard time understanding how to improve their writing. Therefore, instructors should provide specific comments tailored to individual student’s needs to ensure clarity and actionable guidance. Ensuring that instructor feedback is personalized and aligned with student needs in this way fosters a more effective and supportive learning environment in online education and improves students’ writing skills.
