ASSIGNMENT: You began or returned to college for important reasons, and one of those reasons is to learn new skills or expand on your current skills. Therefore, the purpose of the essay you will write in this course is for you to tell your reader (your essay evaluator) three skills you hope to learn or improve on while in college. For each of your course assignments, you will build one section of your essay until you have a final version.
In this first Touchstone, you will create a single thesis statement for your essay. The table below shows two examples of how you might form this thesis.

What is the narrowed topic of your essay? What are the main ideas of your essay? Your final one-sentence thesis statement, expressing the larger main point of the essay.

DIRECTIONS: For this assignment, you will construct a one-sentence thesis statement that clearly states three skills you hope to learn or improve on while in college. In this thesis statement, you should:
Identify the narrow topic of the thesis (either your choice to begin college for the first time, or to return to college to complete your degree).
Identify the main ideas of the thesis statement (the three skills you hope to learn or improve on).
Minimize mechanical and stylistic errors.

The following requirements must be met for your submission to be graded:
Double-space the outline and use one-inch margins.
Use a readable 12-point font.
All writing must be appropriate for an academic context.
Composition must be original and written for this assignment.
Plagiarism of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Submission must include your name, the name of the course, the date, and the title of your composition.
Submission must include your thesis statement formatted according to the guidelines above.
Include all of the assignment components in a single file.
