For this discussion, Hishinuma et al. (2015) study will be critiqued on the research question and hypothesis.
The research questions identified by Hishinuma et al. (2015) are a logical extension of the purpose of the study. Prior U.S. studies indicated differences in ethnicity in victimization or perpetration for adolescents (Hishinuma et al., 2015). The Hawaii Department of Education in 2011 responded to ongoing bullying concerns with a campaign to emphasize safety (Hishinuma et al., 2015). The research questions in the study reflect the best questions to address the problem as they identify the variables necessary to understand interpersonal violence with adolescents in Oahu, Hawaii, public high schools. The research questions align with the study's design as they include the target population by ethnic groups, the sex of the person, and the inclusion of SES impact. The research questions align with the method for collecting data as the design enlisted assistance from high school staff to identify students willing to engage in the study and obtain consent from parents/guardians. The identified participants rated eighteen items to measure the participant's physical and emotional violence encounters with a Likert-type scale.
