In evaluating female sexual offenders, it is essential to select assessment tools that not only align with the referral questions—such as risk, progress, personality, and treatment recommendations—but also take into account gender-specific factors. The Paulhus Deception Scales (PDS) was used to evaluate the offender’s tendency to present herself in an overly favorable light or deny socially undesirable traits. This tool is appropriate given concerns about socially desirable responding and manipulation, which can occur among sexual offenders, including females (Kwan & Vitelli, 2003). Although not specifically designed for women, PDS can still be valid when interpreting results in the context of the client’s background and gender. The Barratt Impulsivity Scale (BIS-11) was selected to assess impulsivity, a trait often correlated with sexually inappropriate behavior. While not female-specific, impulsivity in women may manifest differently—particularly in terms of emotional impulsivity—requiring careful interpretation (Bamford, 2019) Response with references
