Identify the special population you selected.

The special population I selected was religious groups. I have always been fascinated by different religions, and seeing how different faiths help shape the lives of people who follow them. It is also interesting to compare and contrast different religions to see how each one either coincides with each other, or look into what makes them different. Something else that I also find interesting, is how religion shapes the culture of various groups of people as well. It is a fascinating facet of psychology, and sociology where the two intersect at very different points.

Within your chosen special population, what specific considerations need to be made with respect to family violence?

Within my chosen special population, the special considerations that need to be made with respect to family violence, is to understand the crossroads that intersect between religion, and culture (Klemm, 2022). A consideration that also needs to be made between religious groups and family violence, is the idea there are times wherein religious abuse can occur, and the victims would be manipulated into not speaking out about it, due to norms where the family unit should not be spoken out against. This is due to the fact that there are - unfortunately- religions and cultures that make allowances of violence towards individuals based on their age, gender, and marital status (Thomas, et al., 2024). There are also times wherein considerations need to be made regarding religious groups and family violence, because there are situations there are circumstances wherein the religious groups may engage in acts of violence amongst their congregants, and then expect them to forgive their abusers due to the fact that forgiveness is part of their teachings (Kurniati, et al., 2024). In so doing this, they are able to manipulate their victims into making them believe that forgiveness is the only method of salvation for them; that not forgiving them - and reporting their abusers crimes to the appropriate authorities - would be a sin that would cast them into hell or whatever negative alternative to paradise exists.
