In late 2019 and early 2020, Kenyel Brown allegedly killed six individuals in multiple incidents in the Detroit metro area of Michigan. Brown had a long history of criminal activity, and it was revealed that Brown was also a federal informant who had violated his probation. When Brown was caught, he committed suicide to avoid arrest.
In 2022, Salvador Ramos killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Ramos barricaded himself in a classroom and opened fire with an assault rifle. Eighteen-year-old Ramos was described as a loner who was bullied. He had no criminal history or gang affiliation. Eventually, the shooting ended when a border patrol officer fatally shot and killed him on-site.
The two homicide cases described above are quite different—one is a serial killing and the other a mass murder, but one thing they have in common is that both offenders were killed before they were able to stand trial for their crimes.
