Explain why you agree or disagree with the way they would have assessed the offender’s personality as a forensic psychology professional serving as an expert witness for the

Explain why you agree or disagree with the types of interventions they described that may have potentially prevented the homicides.

Note: Your responses to colleagues should be substantial (250 words minimum), supported with scholarly evidence from your research and/or the Learning Resources, and properly cited using APA Style. Personal anecdotes are acceptable as part of a meaningful response but cannot stand alone as a response. Your responses should enrich the initial post by supporting and/or adding a fresh viewpoint and be constructive, enhancing the learning experience for all students.

Return to this Discussion in a few days to read the responses to your initial posting. Note what you have learned and/or any insights that you have gained because of your colleagues’ comments.

Summarize the case you selected.

In 2022, inside Robb Elementary School, Salvador Ramos approached his old 4th-grade classroom with the intent to commit mass murder. He entered the adjoining classrooms 111 and 112, where all fatalities took place (Kennedy, 2022). A total of 19 students and 2 teachers were killed, with 18 more people injured, on that day (Wikipedia, 2026). This was deemed the third most deadly school shooting in America (Kennedy, 2022). Prior to the attack, he shot his grandmother and two people near a funeral home, which resulted in all three of them being injured (Wikipedia, 2026). The school shooting lasted 74 minutes, even though police arrived just a few minutes after it began. Ramos killed a majority of the victims at the beginning of this time frame; however, with this extra time, he fired multiple rounds into both classrooms to ensure they were dead. He also abused the dead bodies by stepping on them and pouring water on them (Wikipedia, 2026).

Describe the offender, including his motivations, personality traits, psychological disorders, psychological profile, and risk factors.

There were many warning signs in Ramos's behavior. There also seems to be a clear motive from the fact that he went directly to his old classrooms, where he often faced bullying and isolation (Wikipedia, 2026). There were also multiple accounts of him being called a school shooter by peers in a mocking way, which may have had a motivating impact (Wikipedia, 2026). In regard to his personality and psychological profile, there is a clear lack of empathy and a trail of antisocial behaviors. He openly killed and abused animals on a livestreaming service, Yubo (Wikipedia, 2026). On Yubo, he would also threaten women by saying he was going to kidnap and rape them (Wikipedia, 2026). He also used to threaten school shootings during his live streams (Wikipedia, 2026). Although his initial isolation may have been initiated by his peers, people later claimed that he seemed to go out of his way to be alone (Wikipedia, 2026). He did have a girlfriend, but there aren't any references to friends (other than a girl in Germany that he told about his crimes) during the investigation (Wikipedia, 2026). From all this information, he seems to have antisocial personality disorder and has enough psychopathic traits to deem him a psychopath. Interestingly, he looked up the term "sociopath" (Wikipedia, 2026), but I believe the traits of a psychopath align more. There is no mental illness that is documented; however, there also doesn't seem to be any attempts at a psychological evaluation.

If the offender had faced prosecution, describe how you, as a forensic psychology professional serving as an expert witness for the defense, would have assessed the offender’s personality.

If I were to be testifying for the defence, I would have assessed the offender's personality, highlighting certain possibilities. One of these possibilities is the fact that he may have been in some kind of psychosis or manic episode. His attack on the grandmother, two strangers who have nothing to do with his motives, crashing the car, leaving one of his guns in the car, and his erratic behavior towards the dead bodies may point towards an altered mental state that may qualify as not guilty by reason of insanity. Legal insanity requires that a person, by reason of mental disease or defect, was incapable of either: knowing the nature of his or her act, understanding the nature of his or her act, and/or distinguishing between right and wrong at the time of the commission of the crime (ContaCosta, n.d.). Although I do believe he knew what he was doing, I don't know if he understood the true nature of
